Case Study Capsules

  • From David to Goliath.
We coached the CEO of a specialty food organization in media engagement. He brought us with him to a major association serving the $1.5 trillion food away from home industry. This group hired us to increase their name recognition, and he became a key voice on restaurant performance, landing interviews with CNBC and Bloomberg and gaining acknowledgment in the trade press as the authority on all that’s happening in the restaurant and foodservice world.
  • Elevating product into thought leadership.
A UK insurer and top 10 global asset manager hired us to create a U.S. media presence. We guided their op-ed columns, made them a Forbes contributor, articulated their unique approach to investing, and earned placements in CNBC, Bloomberg, the New York Times, Stanford Social Innovation Review, Fortune and WWD. We designed a series of original studies on generational borrowing and home ownership, fintech, insuretech, and the gig economy. For one study alone we secured 200+ unique pieces of coverage.
  • Finding your voice.
We took a smallish management consulting firm and gave them big firm presence, helping them punch above their weight in media engagement. We quickly secured coverage in Bloomberg, CNBC, USA Today, and the New York Times.  Digging deeper, we placed them in specialized trade publications across industries. We did this by helping them find their voice—coaching them to say what they wanted to say and making their ideas digestible by the media and mapped to the news cycle.
  • Zero to 60 in Seconds.
A consulting firm integrating data and behavioral science hired us after a 6-month stint with an agency that had secured them only a single piece of coverage. We began engaging them with the media, and by the time they signed us on, had already generated 3 pieces of press for them. Through the firm’s rebranding, we continued to fit them into the media landscape, helped sharpen their thought leadership, and created close ties for them with in the trade press.

Meir Kahtan is the founder of Meir Kahtan Public Relations, where he leads both client strategy and media outreach. Over several decades, he has built a reputation for helping reporters tell stronger stories by connecting them with the right experts and insights, while helping refine their thinking, sharpen their messaging, and surface ideas that align with the news cycle.

Meir approaches PR less as promotion and more as contextual placement, with an ear finely tuned to what journalists actually need and a commitment to ensuring that no detail is lost in translation. He plays a behind-the-scenes role that is equal parts listener, editor, connector, discussion facilitator and advocate, always aiming to help both clients and journalists do their best work.

Before founding the firm, Meir studied instrumental performance at the Royal College of Music in London, earning a performance degree with honors. His training in counterpoint, rhythm, and orchestration now informs how he helps clients structure their stories, anticipate what’s needed, and show up with clarity and relevance. He sees the work of matching client ideas to reporter needs as part composition, part collaboration, and part timing.

When not tracking the news, Meir’s interests span music, architectural history, food, tech innovation, languages, literature, and religion.

Brittany Cota is living proof that while we live in an AI-driven world, you can’t extract the human element. Brittany is our Senior Media Strategist, the person whose judgement helps determine where, when, and to whom we reach out.

Since joining Meir Kahtan Public Relations (MKPR) in 2016, Brittany has helped shape how our clients reach the media, not by casting a wide net, but by making deliberate, well-considered decisions. Thanks to this process, our open rates routinely exceed industry averages, and our unsubscribe rate remains at near zero—both clear signs that our outreach adds value, not clutter, to journalists’ inboxes.

Brittany began at MKPR tracking the coverage we helped generate for clients, digitizing and archiving articles, and building structured databases of results. From there, she moved into deep media analysis, both managing our outreach execution and providing clients with curated research that helps them understand where they fit in the news cycle to help optimize their engagement with the press.

A graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York City with a degree in Visual and Critical Studies, Brittany started her career archiving historic material for Life magazine. Her ability to bring both structure and visual logic to complex information helps make each campaign sharper, smarter, and better aligned with what journalists actually need.
